Dear Kids,
Haven't written you for quite a spell but have the whole afternoon to idle away as it is your turn although I think the Moore's non-leakable is about out of ink. I just wrote Deva and the folks. That is good for about a pen full.
We leave here tomorrow for Toul which is south and west of here and then so far as we know now - as I have just learned we show in Paris. That will be hard to take. The only thing I hate about that is that I am flat broke. We stayed in Esch, Luxembourg too long and then I loaned out about a hundred Francs to the boys and I have sixteen Francs left. I sent a wad home last month.
We aren't going to get paid this month either as our Lieutenant is in the hospital and he is the only one who can O.K. our pay books. Well if I don't have it I can't spend it, that is one thing for sure.
Hope the roads are in good shape for you now as I know you can make good money in it. I wouldn't hesitate to take a better job with the Standard - one that you won't have to worry over roads and trucks and the like.
Had several letters from the folks in the past few days and also from Deva. We surely appreciate mail out on the road as we don't get it very often because we are moving around so much. It has a hard time reaching us.
Am sending you an Iron Cross which you can use as a charm on your watch job and am also enclosing a smaller one for Lila. I sent Deva one a few days or so ago.
Am feeling fine and think we will be home some time in June or July.
Thomas must be getting to be quite a boy to go to town alone.
What is the matter with Dad's truck? Will it be all right to deliver ice with? The folks didn't have any ice up March 4th and I doubt if they do get it. God I hope they do as it is no fun to ship it in and unload the stuff.
The pen is about dry so I'll close. Will try write you oftener.
Thanks for the gum that is an excellent idea. I don't chew tobacco so the gum sure comes in fine.
